The unit crest or Distinctive Unit Insignia is a Silver-colored metal and enamel device measuring 1 3/16 inches (3.02 cm) in height. It consists of a shield with the following features: a black vertical band in the middle (known as a "pale") with a gold background, a downward-facing sword in gold color overlaying the band, a white unfurled scroll on top of the sword, and a quill pen in gold color leaning towards the left side of the crest. The upper section of the crest, known as the "chief," features a stylized mountain range in brown color on a white background, below a silver star. The crest is completed by a black scroll with silver letters inscribed "ORDO AB CHAO" attached beneath the shield.
